Who we are

“Resol” means reflected sunlight. We see ourselves as a reflection of many hands and hearts — local leaders, educators, clinicians, volunteers, donors, and neighbors near and far.

What RESOL means

Resol is a Spanish word for sunlight reflected from a surface. The sun’s light is constant, generous, and shared by all. Those ideas shape our purpose.

  • Collective light: Our work is a reflection of shared love, skill, and hope — never just one person or one organization.
  • Sustainability: Like the steady sun, we build programs that last and grow with the community.
  • Equity: Health is for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or religion.

Our values

Guiding principles that show up in every program.

Collective light

Progress belongs to the community. We elevate local leadership and reflect the efforts of many.

Sustainability

We prioritize programs that communities can maintain and grow for years to come.

Equity

We support systems where care is accessible and dignified for all people.

Where we work

Our current focus is the Chicacao region of southern Guatemala, with plans to expand as partnerships grow.

  • Travel to clinics can range from an hour by foot to several hours by road.
  • Many community members attend ~3–4 years of school; many women attend 1–2 years.
  • Basic infrastructure like sewage systems and garbage disposal is limited in some areas.
  • Clean, potable water is not guaranteed for many households.
